Richard T. "Dick" Dean, 89

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Richard T. "Dick" Dean, 89, of Adams, died Wednesday evening, December 14, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in North Adams on November 11, 1927, a son of the late Alfred and Auretta (Aubin) Dean, and attended North Adams schools.
Richard married the love of his life, the former Josephine B. Lesniak, on October 26, 1946, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She preceded him to the Lord on February 14, 2009.
As a young man, he was a proud member of Company M of the Massachusetts National Guard, and he loved telling stories from when he served.
Richard retired from General Electric Co. in Pittsfield in 1992 after many years of dedicated service. When he was not spending time with his family, he loved to hunt at his deer camp in Vermont, bowling with his Tuesday Night League in Pittsfield, and golfing at Forest Park Country Club in Adams with the Wednesday and Sunday golf leagues. He was also a longtime member of the Adams Forest Wardens.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Richard A. Dean, with whom he resided and who cared for him night and day until the end; his two daughters, Marcia (Dean) Giroux of Adams and Patricia (Dean) Sniezek and her husband, Bruce, who was Dick's golfing buddy, of Adams; his grandchildren, Stacie (Giroux) Vigiard and her fiancée, Pete Morandi, Josh Giroux, Veronica Sniezek and Richard Mandeville; his great-grandchildren, Joseph and Alaina Vigiard, Ethan Giroux and Tyler Mandeville; three brothers, Henry and James Dean of North Adams, and Ken Dean of Tupper Lake, N.Y.; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and Jackie Dean.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School, 108 Summer St. Adams, MA 01220.
