NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charles Henry McGovern, 83, of North Adams died Wednesday January 4, 2017, at Williamstown Commons.

He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on July 21, 1933, son of Terrance and Emma (Sheldon) McGovern. He attended local schools.

Charles was last employed as a security guard with Pinkerton Security. He enjoyed bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Estelle (Rosdale) McGovern, whom he married in November 1960; one daughter, Ann Gwozdz of Cheshire, Mass.; three sons, Michael McGovern of Coeymans Hollow, N.Y., and Paul McGovern and Charles McGovern of North Adams; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Willis, Marilyn Pettit, Mary Goddeau and Margaret Writes; three brothers, Harry McGovern, Terry McGovern and William McGovern; and nieces and nephews.  

Four brothers and sisters are deceased.

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Charles McGovern will be Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St. North Adams. Burial will be private.  
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
