Kathleen T. Hoczela, 81

ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Kathleen T. (Caffrey) Hoczela, 81, of Adams died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday evening, January 7, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
She was the wife of the late Theodore J. "Joe" Hoczela, whom she married on October 13, 1956, in the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Joe died on October 19, 2016.
She was born in North Adams on February 2, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph F. Caffrey Sr. and Ada (Manuel) Caffrey. She attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School.
Kathy last worked in the bakery department of Stop & Shop in North Adams, until retiring. Earlier, she had worked at the former A&P Supermarket in North Adams; the former Adams Super Markets in Adams, North Adams and Pittsfield; and the former Adams Cooperative Bakery in Adams. She was also one of 17 owner/operators of the former Heritage Supermarket in North Adams.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, playing bingo, bowling, knitting and cooking.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Louise Aldrich of Cheshire; her son, Joseph Hoczela of New Fairfield, Conn.; two grandsons, Joseph and Jeffrey of North Carolina; a granddaughter, Caitlin, of Bedford, Mass.; one great granddaughter, Emily, of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Mary Caffrey of North Adams; her "furry children," Jessie and Smokey; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, including Frederick Sawyer and his wife, Donna, of Savoy.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph F. Caffrey, Jr. and by her sister, Genevieve Carmichael.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Wednesday, January 11, 2017. from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
