Florence Andrews, 93

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Florence E. Andrews, 93, of Stockbridge passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Agawam on Monday, January 23, 207, after a long battle of dementia and suffering two strokes.

She was born on November 6, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Juanita Ariail Weed. She was a graduate of the former Williams High School, Class of 1941.

Mrs. Andrews worked at the Stockbridge Pharmacy for 27 years prior to her retirement in 1984. Florence was an active member of St. Paul’s Parish, serving on its vestry and alter guild. She also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce and the Norman Rockwell Museum.

Mrs. Andrews is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Gilbert and her husband Paul of Agawam; two grandsons, Andrew Gilbert and his wife Stephanie and Daniel Gilbert and his wife Jennifer; five great-grandchildren, Brianna Paine, Jacob Gilbert, Emma Ann Gilbert, Rileyann Gilbert and Gabriella Butcher; her sister-in-law, Marion C. Andrews; nieces, nephews and special friends Bill, Donna, Patricia, Melissa and Tommy.

Florence was predeceased by her husband, R. Bruce Andrews, whom she married May 10, 1942, in 2006; and her sister, Charlene Abderhalden, in 2014.

Mrs. Andrews’ family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Consolati, PorchLight Homecare, BayState Medical Center and Hospice of Western Massachusetts for their care and concern shown to Florence and her family.

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Florence Andrews will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Samuel J. Smith, Priest-in-Charge, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stockbridge Cemetery. 

Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, January 27, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kelly Funeral Home in Lee. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Mrs. Andrews’ name to either St. Paul’s Church or Hospice of Western Massachusetts in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
