John W. Blake, 87

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John William Blake, 87, of North Adams died on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Williamstown Commons. 

He was born on February 27, 1929 in Williamstown, Mass., a son of the late Lewis & Jessie (Garner) Blake. 

John attended schools in Williamstown and was then employed with Sprague Electric Co. He later worked at Mount Hope Farm in Williamstown. In 1962 he went to Williams College Buildings and Grounds Dept, retiring in 1991 with 30 years of service. Mr. Blake was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. 

John was predeceased by his wife, Gisella Louise Piantoni who died on February 27, 2014. They were married on October 23, 1954. 

Survivors include Bruna and Geno Vivori and their family and several nieces, nephews grandnieces and grand nephews. 

He was predeceased by his sister Nora Ann Oakes and two brothers, Harry and Lewis Blake. 

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. 

Calling hours are Thursday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
