Wendy S. O’Connor, 51

HOUSATONIC, Mass. — Wendy Sue O’Connor, 51, passed away unexpectedly in her home in Housatonic on Friday, February 10, 2017.
Wendy was born November 16, 1965, in Great Barrington, Mass., to Frederick and Judith Schneider. From the moment she came into the world, she was a joy to everyone around her. Her sparkling blue eyes couldn’t help but make you smile, and her kindness knew no bounds. Her family has many fond memories of her singing. Anytime was a good time for a song when it came to Wendy. Whether it was beside a campfire, in harmony with her sister Heidi, Christmas carols, or even just doing chores around the house, it was never a surprise to hear Wendy's voice ringing out. She also leant her beautiful soprano to the First Congregational Church choir and other local groups over the years.
Wendy's greatest passion was always her family. She had a way of making each member feel more loved than anyone in the world. She had a beautiful imagination and seemingly endless amounts of energy when it came to children, which made her practically a saint to the youngest members of her family. For everyone else, she was a bright, fun spirit to have around in the best of times, and a warm, safe embrace to comfort them in the worst. She loved people in general, and enjoyed all the friendly interactions she was able to have throughout the years while she worked at Ames, Reid's Cleaners, KMart, and Big Y Supermarket.
She is survived by her two daughters, Amanda Steben and her husband Michael and Alyssa O’Connor; her two sisters, Lisa St. Pierre and her husband Lord, and Heidi Delaney and her husband Paul; her nieces and nephews, Adam, Brenna, Selena, Natalie, and Casey, as well as Selena’s sons, Jackson and Greyson.
Wendy was preceded in death by her loving parents.
Funeral notice: Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church at 251 Main St. in Great Barrington, Mass., on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in honor of Wendy’s great love of animals through Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
