Robert D. "Jumbo" O'Neil Sr, 80

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Robert Dale "Jumbo" O'Neil Sr., 80 of North Adams, MA died Saturday December 26, 2020 at his home.

He was born in North Adams, MA on June 16, 1940, a son of Bernard Francis and Dorothy Rose (Cheney) O'Neil. He attended St. Joseph's Parochial School.

Bob was a veteran of the US Army from 1958 to 1962.

He was last employed by B & D Painting Contractors, where he worked for many years until his retirement. He was also a chef by trade and had worked at places like Dutch Hill, Rosa Restaurant, and the Tally House. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Bob enjoyed old movies and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include one son- Robert Dale (Lynda) O'Neil Jr. of North Adams and three daughters- Colleen Mazza and Shelly (Michael Valotta) O'Neil, both of Adams and Cindy (Peter) Cavanaugh of North Adams. He also leaves eleven grandchildren including Anthony Mazza Jr., Katelynn Mazza, Chelsy Mazza, Michael Valotta Jr., Monique Valotta, Macey Valotta, Matthew Valotta, Megan Valotta, Erika (Andrew) Massari, Samantha Cavanaugh, and Jack Cavanaugh and several great grandchildren; three sisters- Patricia Tatro and Janice Richards, both of North Adams; and Deborah Green of Clarksburg; three brothers- Bernard O'Neil and Robert DeGrenier, both of the state of FL; and Donald O'Neil of North Adams; and nieces and nephews. A brother, Norman DeGrenier is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Bob O'Neil will be at a later date. Private burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
