Betty Lou Pyra, 82

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Betty Lou Pyra, 82, of North Adams, died on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.

She was born in Adams on March 9, 1938, daughter of the late Henry Alfred, and Elsa (Geisler) Kleiner.

Betty Lou grew up in Adams and attended the Adams schools. including C.T Plunkett and Adams Memorial High School.

Betty Lou worked for many years at General Cable, Cord Master and other places eventually retiring from Sweetbrook Nursing Home in Williamstown.

She was first married to the late Thomas W Belanger Jr. of Adams and after to the late Gerald Pyra of Adams in the summer of 1975.

She enjoyed very much the loving of her pets, was an avid reader and crochet knitter, where many people worldwide were given items as gifts. When younger, she also enjoyed and maintained her flower garden. She loved nature and the outdoors.

She leaves her sons; Dr. Timothy and Jennifer Belanger of Pittsfield and Michael and Karen Belanger of Lanesborough; her brothers, Kenneth and Mary Lou Kleiner of NH, Norman and the late Carol Kleiner of Adams; her sister, Gladis and the late Ralph Montgomery of Cheshire, and many nieces and nephews whom were in her thoughts often.

She is predeceased by her late brother Donald and his wife Marilyn (Cone) Kleiner of Williamstown.

She was a longtime advocate and contributor of children in need and animal charities.

Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.

There are no calling hours.

The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
