Mary Frances Petropulos, 87

HUDSON, N.H. — Mary Frances (McDonnell) Petropulos, 87, of Hudson, wife of George N. Petropulos, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 26, 2021, at the Windham Terrace Senior Care facility after a brief illness.

Mrs. Petropulos was born in Adams, Mass. on Aug. 19, 1933, a daughter of the late Dr. Patrick J. and Emma (Steuer) McDonnell. Mary was a graduate of Adams High School Class of 1951 where she was a member of the Crimson Key Society, senior class play cast, sophomore reception committee and twirling team.

She continued her education at the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, Mass. where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and minored in education, graduating with the Class of 1955. During her college years, Mary was a senior class marshal at the annual Class day exercises, a member of the senior class play cast, staff member of the Elmscript and a member of the glee club and athletic association.

Mary began her teaching career for the North Adams School System in September 1955. After two years, she then devoted her life as a wife and mother to her five children. Serving as their #1 fan, she was a constant presence at her children's sporting events and school functions. She later continued her teaching career at Greylock School in North Adams, Mass.

In 1994, she and her husband relocated to Florida where they resided for over twenty years before moving to Hudson in July of 2017. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mary loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson.

Members of her family include her husband George, whom she married on Aug. 10, 1957, and shared over 63 years together; her five children and their spouses, David and Maren Petropulos of Amherst, and their children, Tyler and David Jr. and his wife, Marguerite; James and Lynda Petropulos of Hollis, and their children, Christopher and his fiancé Rosalind Barrett, Alexander and Olivia; Karen and Thomas Coffey of Merrimack, and their daughters, Jennifer and Joanne; Sara and John Muckstadt of Dover, Mass and their children, Dana and John; and Nicholas and Elizabeth Petropulos of Hancock, Mass and their sons, Andrew and Owen. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her infant brother, Joseph and infant sister, Joanne.

There are no calling hours. A memorial Mass is being planned and will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary's memory to the St. John Paul Charity Center, c/o St. John Paul II Parish, 21 Maple Street, P.O. Box 231, Adams, MA 01220.

Mr.Petropolis, I am very sorry to hear of your wife's passing.I only met her once. I remember the day of President Keennedy's assasination. I was in your room when she called to say it had happened.
