Myrtice C. Gagne, 89

ADAMS, Mass. —

Mrs. Myrtice Claire (Rupprecht) Gagne, 89, of Adams, died on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield after a brief illness, not Covid, she beat that in late November in true Mert fashion.

She was born in Adams on May 8, 1931, a daughter of the late William “Nollar” Rupprecht and Rachel (Fairweather) Rupprecht. She attended schools in Adams.

Mrs. Gagne worked for many years in the Ordnance Division of the former General Electric Co., Pittsfield until her retirement.

She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. She was a member of the Adams Senior Citizens. She loved the beach, trips to the casino, gardening, quilting and most of all her family. Mert always had a smile for everyone, and suggests everyone pass one along in her honor, as we never know how a smile will lift one’s spirits. ‘oh and Mert always encouraged us to jump on the bed- especially when your on vacation! Have fun and enjoy the little things in life’

Her husband, Leonard J. Gagne, Sr., whom she married on April 19, 1952, died on November 17, 1988.

She is survived by three daughters, Robin Gagne and Judith Morris, both of Adams and Christa Gagne-Schneider and her husband Gary of Cheshire; two granddaughters, Heather Main and Marissa Kirchner and her husband Matthew; one great grandson, Jackson Kirchner and by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grand dogs, Miley and Stella.

She was predeceased by her son, Leonard J. Gagne, Jr., by two brothers, Joseph “Patrick” Rupprecht and William Rupprecht, Jr.; and by her four sisters, Geraldine Roberts, Margaret Bassette, Dorothy Pitroff and Marie Rupprecht.

Mert’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her personal caregivers, Denise and Linda as well as her nurse Mollie and her wonderful roommates at Hillcrest Commons.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 26th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by Rev. William F. Cyr.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Rd., Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to the Elder Services Meals on Wheels, 877 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
