Rose B. Koscielniak, 104

ADAMS, Mass. — Rose B. Koscielniak, 104, of Adams, passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2021, at her home.

Born in Adams on Dec. 1, 1916, daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche Roy La Chance, she was a graduate of the former Notre Dame Elementary School and the former Adams High School with the class of 1936.

Her last place of employment was with the former Schwartz Furniture Store in Adams as a bookkeeper and from where she retired. Prior to that, Rose was employed for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. and for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams.

Rose was a longtime communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Adams. She was a member of the Council on Aging and took the van every day during the week so she could play Polish pitch and have lunch with her friends. She also participated in special events and especially enjoyed the monthly bingo games. The Adams Council on Aging, with all its support, social activities, and the love and concern of its members, is credited with enabling Rose to live a long, quality-filled life.

Her husband, Casimer Koscielniak, whom she married on Nov. 21, 1936, died Feb. 13, 1990.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Cain of Adams; a son, Alan Koscielniak of Ormond Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Andreanna Kennedy.

Services and burial in Bellevue Cemetery will be private and there will be no calling hours.

Donations in her memory can be made to Adams Council on Aging, 3 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220. TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME in Adams is in charge of arrangements.

I cared for Rose while she was in her early 90s. She was a spunky lady, and taught me how to play rummy. We will sit for hours and she would always win. It was a blessing to know her:.

Dearest Carol,
To you , your brother and family……what a gift your precious Mother was! A kind, compassionate, faithful woman who adored you and each member of the family, with memories she held dear and so enjoyed talking about! Years ago, at the church, I was blessed to enjoy many chats and to feel like I was one of the family because of the kindness of Rose and you Carol, by being shown first hand valuable lessons in life about a mother-daughter love. Now, my mom is 90 and in her home and still working at the church.
Perhaps you didn’t realize, but I was always watching and learning and shown how moments spent on good or difficult days with the Rosary in our hand guiding our paths, was a beautiful day to know that some folks enter your life as angels to teach. Carol, your beloved Mother was a reflection of the love of Our Lady and you ensured she lived the best life! Remember that she watches you and the family and you are never alone. Keep those prayers going! That is the best gift our loved ones can teach us. Carry on with your faith and know it was my honor to have enjoyed precious time with your beautiful Mother and you.
Love, Theresa

Sad to hear of my former neighbour's passing. Walking from the top of the hill to school, she would often tell my mom she saw us. What a long blessed life !
