Rev. Dorothy Wilson, 94

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Rev. Dorothy Mary (Franz) Wilson, 94 of North Adams, MA died Saturday September 18, 2021 at North Adams Commons.

She was born in North Adams, MA on August 27, 1927, a daughter of William Napoleon Franz and Dorothy Lillian (Cook) Franz. She attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School. Dorothy also graduated from Zion Bible Institute in Providence, RI.

Dorothy and her late husband founded the Zion Pentecostal Church in North Adams which is currently called the Northern Berkshire Christian Church. In addition to building the church in North Adams, Dorothy and her husband went on to pastor churches in Leominster and Quincy. She enjoyed teaching Children's Church and being active in the women's fellowships at these churches. She was an accomplished pianist for over 75 years, continuing to play each Sunday at her church until earlier this spring.

Dorothy was a District Leader of Missionettes, a ministry to girls throughout the churches of the Southern New England District of the Assemblies of God during the years that she and her husband were serving at the District Office in Auburn, MA. In earlier years, she was very active in the District's camp ministry in Charlton, MA., providing support in whatever area that was needed.

She treasured the many conference trips she and her husband made while serving in the District Office in the 1980's. These yearly events brought about many lasting friendships; some remaining close to 40 years. She would often reminisce of the trip to Hawaii; no doubt the memory of a lifetime.

She was currently a member of the Blackinton Union Church and a member of its Women's Guild. Dorothy enjoyed reading.

She was the widow of Gerald E. Wilson who died on February 22, 1989. They were married on October 14, 1945. Dot was a staple in the St Joseph’s Court community and it was a pleasure to know her and have her be a part of my extended family for so many years. She was a blessing to anyone whom had the honor to be part of her life. Rest In Peace and may God Bless her for eternity.
