Philip A. Ouimet, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Philip Alfred Ouimet, 88 of North Adams, MA died Friday September 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Plainfield, CT on April 19, 1933, a son of Exarie Joseph Ouimet and Lucienne Virginia (Marc-Aurele) Ouimet. He came to North Adams at an early age and attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School. He graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1951.

Phil was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Army until his honorable discharge with the rank of corporal.

Phil was employed by the North Adams Transcript newspaper for many years until his retirement as the composing room manager. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He also enjoyed fishing, walking and hiking.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Joan (Demo) Ouimet, whom he married on October 7, 1961 and one daughter- Nancy E. (Kenny) Freitag of Cheshire, MA and one son-Michael P. (Arica) Ouimet of Adams, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren- Jamee (Jeff) Dion of Esmont, VA; Matthew Freitag of Lenox, MA; Kelsey Ouimet of Adams, MA and Ryan Ouimet of Ashby, MA; and one great granddaughter- Lily Dion.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Philip Ouimet will be celebrated Thursday September 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA are Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
