Attilio P. Scolforo

Attilio P. Scolforo, 85, of 7 Sandisfield Road, formerly of Union Street, Lee, died Tuesday at the Laurel Lake Center in Lee. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 15, 1915, son of Peter and Angela Trentin Scolforo, he spent the greater part of his life in Lee and was a graduate of St. Mary's School. Mr. Scolforo served in the Navy during World War II as a seaman first class from December 1943 until November 1945. He worked as a papermaker at the former Smith Paper Co. from 1939 until retiring in 1977 after 38 years of service. At the time of his retirement, the company was called the Peter J. Schweitzer Paper Co. Mr. Scolforo was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, cooking and reading. He leaves his wife, the former Olga Triani, whom he married in 1947; four sons, Edward T. Scolforo, Dennis W. Scolforo and Thomas P. Scolforo, all of Pittsfield, and David M. Scolforo of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara A. Metivier and Regina A. Scolforo, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Mary Davis of Lee; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The funeral for Attilio P. Scolforo will be held Saturday morning at 10 at St. Mary's Church with a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Make A Wish Foundation in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME at 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
