John N. Cummings, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  John Nagle Cummings, 88 of North Adams, MA died on Monday June 5, 2023 at Berkshire Medical Center.

He was born in North Adams, MA on November 26, 1934, a son of Howard L. Cummings and Ruth M. (Nagle) Cummings Maxmillian Deamer. He attended schools in Adams and North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1952. John served in the US Army.

He was employed by General Electric Co. for many years until his retirement. He then worked part time at the former North Adams Country Club. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.

He was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. John was a man of few words but when he spoke, he was very knowledgeable and had a dry sense of humor. His best stories were about his time living on the farm.

His wife was Florence Rose (Robert) Cummings who died on May 1, 2001. They were married on August 15, 1969. Survivors include one sister- Patricia Cumberbatch of Williamstown, MA and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by one sister and two brothers- Ruth Vachereau, Philip Cummings and Robert Cummings.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for John Cummings will be celebrated Tuesday June 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. There are no calling hours.
