Suzanne Salatino, 88

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Suzanne Helen Salatino (née Marshall) passed away on January 22, 2026. Born September 26, 1937 in Lanesborough, MA, to Suzanne Mickleson Marshall and Robert Marshall. She grew up in Pittsfield and spent her childhood summers on her grandparents' farm in Coxsackie, NY. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1955 and attended flight attendant school in Connecticut. She married John Salatino, May 7, 1960. He predeceased her after 62 years of marriage.
She worked for Dr. Morris Gellar DDS, General Electric, Eaton Paper, and then spent over 20 years working at Berkshire Medical Center until her retirement.
Suzanne was an adventurous traveler, much to the consternation of her husband, she traveled throughout the US, Canada and Mexico as well as Europe and the Holy Land. One of her highlights of her travels was visiting her grandparents’ village in Slovakia and getting to meet her cousins. She was also an artist; those who visited her home may remember a beautiful chalk mural on her wall. She was a generous cook who loved to share her table with others. She was a kind and independent mother who emboldened her children to take on life with full force. She loved birds, and had several as pets that often lived well beyond their expected lifespans. The wild bird and squirrels in her yard will miss her, as will her family, her dear friends and her community.
She was a beloved parishioner of St. Mark’s church where her son Fr John is pastor. in Pittsfield, a Eucharistic minister, she changed the candles and washed the linens until recently.
Her survivors include Julie Salatino (Tim Supranowicz), Lisa Provencher (Hannah Provencher), Rev. John Salatino, all of Pittsfield and Jean Salatino (Steven Gandolfo) of Sebastapol, CA. She also leaves behind 2 grandchildren Kit Gandolfo, Mari Provencher and her husband Jason Blagman and Chad Supranowicz. She was predeceased by her siblings, Elizabeth Marshall and Robert Marshall.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Suzanne Salatino will be celebrated Saturday April 11, 2026 at 9:30 AM at St. Mark’s Church, 400 West St. Pittsfield, MA by her son, Rev. John Salatino. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
