Timothy James Ambrosino, 79

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  On the morning of May 6th, 2026, Timothy James Ambrosino passed away peacefully after a nearly 6-year battle with dementia. Tim was 79 years old. He was born in Gloversville, New York, where he attended Gloversville High and excelled in both wrestling and football. Tim later went on to graduate from the University at Albany in 1968, where he was active in politics and the arts. Tim worked as an artist before opening Deco Art in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, an art supply and custom framing shop, which is where he met and fell in love with his wife Ellen in the spring of 1988. They married on February 19th, 1989 in the Berkshires, where they raised their two sons, Eric and Aaron, until they moved their family to Virginia Beach in 1997.

Tim always had an entrepreneurial spirit. While running his successful framing business, Tim started Mariah Vision 3, which later became Bridgeborn, a cutting-edge company that developed intelligence software for the U.S. government. Through his work, Tim traveled the world, nurturing a profound appreciation for different countries and cultures. But there was nowhere in the world he’d rather be than in Italy, where he created lifelong memories on trips with his family.

Above all, Tim adored being a father. He took great joy in encouraging his sons through their passions at every stage of life. When Eric and Aaron took interest in skateboarding, Tim built them a skateboard ramp in the backyard; when Aaron discovered his love for pottery and sculpture, Tim bought him a second-hand kiln to make art at home; when Eric fell in love with cinema, Tim would find copies of obscure foreign films to screen for the family. Tim’s dry wit and sharp sense of humor became a feature of the Ambrosino household, leading to long and deep conversations with the boys and their friends that they still recall to this day.

Despite his best efforts, Tim became a tried-and-true dog lover. In his spare time, Tim enjoyed walking on the beach with his beloved pug, Rocky. We can only imagine they are together again, walking side-by-side in the sand.

After Tim’s diagnosis, Tim and Ellen moved back to the Berkshires to be closer to family. Ellen, Eric, and Aaron thank their loved ones for their compassion, support, and care throughout the last six years.

Tim is survived by his wife, Ellen, his two sons, Eric and Aaron, his daughter-in-law, Megan, his brother, Tom, his sister-in-law, Kathleen, and many cousins, in-laws, and nieces and nephews. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Sal and Grace Ambrosino. Contributions in Tim’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. https://www.alz.org/research
