Rene` V. Gazaille, 90

ADAMS, Mass. —
Rene` Victor Gazaille, 90, of Adams, died on Friday, May 15, 2026, at his home with his wife and family by his side.
He was born in Warwick, RI on December 17, 1935, a son of the Eudanice and Rose (Desplaines) Gazaille. He attended Notre Dame Grade School through eighth grade and delivered the commencement speech in French. He had attended the former Adams High School.
Rene` was a master barber since age 16, the youngest licensed barber in Massachusetts. He owned and operated the former Men’s Den on Park Street in Adams and the Men’s Den II in North Adams for over 70 years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs, Adams. He had been a member of the Massachusetts National Guard and was a life member of the Adams Lodge of Elks 1335 where he held many positions including most notable exalted ruler. He had also been a member of the former Cartier Club and Adams Lions Club. He served as president of the Peewee Junior Football program for 5 years and had coached little league.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, the former Rosetta M. Betolati, whom he married on May 26, 1990; his three sons, Dennis Gazaille of Boca Raton, FL, Mark Gazaille and his wife Laurie of North Adams and Michael Gazaille of Adams; a daughter-in-law Nancy Scerbo of Williamstown; his brother Norman Gazaille and wife Kathy of Ocala, FL; three sister, Dorothy Schonfelder and husband Fran of Adams, Claire Caparello and husband Dom of Tallahassee, FL and Debra Connor and husband Jeff of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, Denee, Delany, Mark, Jr., Curtis, Jenna, Derek, Jessie and Peter; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including his faithful nephew Brock Gazaille.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Joan Belini who died on May 19, 1988, and by his sister Rita Gazaille.
The family would like to thank all of Rene’s caregivers, especially Debbie Biegiebing, RN from Hospice Care in the Berkshires.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 10:00 A.M. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, are Tuesday May 19th from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
