Donna Swistak, 69

ADAMS, Mass. —
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Donna “Big D” (Kozik) Swistak, on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 69 after a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Donna was born in Adams on August 28, 1956, a daughter of Cecilia (Scarbo) Kozik and the late Edwin Kozik. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School.
Donna worked for Stop & Shop Supermarket in North Adams until retiring in 2025 after 25 years. She had also worked events at the Williams Inn and had been the owner of the former Tan-O-Rific Tanning Salon in North Adams.
After retiring in 2025, Donna cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She also found great joy in reading, the beach, shopping and all social gatherings.
She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her hilarious sense of humor. Donna was the life of the party.
Donna had a huge heart and a true spirit of adventure. She lived life to the fullest, especially enjoying her travels across the United States to discover new places and sample various martinis.
Big D was a vision no matter where she went. Usually found in a festive or themed ensemble, from the shoes, to the velour jumpsuit, to matching headgear, and everything in between. There isn’t a soul in Berkshire county who didn’t get to experience the festive Big D as they moved through her stop n shop check out line during every holiday season.
Donna’s vivacious personality, desire to live life and whoop it up is something we can all carry with us. To love our families unconditionally, to shop until we drop, to choose the fruitiest drink on the menu, to sink our toes in the sand with the sun on our face, and to enjoy a nice prime rib dinner with popovers and a homemade mocha sundae after.
Throughout her life she cared for us, she spoiled us, she vacationed with us, she partied with us, she pinched pierogis with us, she shopped for us, she traveled to see us, she hosted us, she cooked food for us, she made pudding shots for us, she went to the movies with us, she cheered for us, she relaxed with us, she polka’d with us, she drove us in the Mustang, she fine dined with us, she took endless pictures of us and shared her adventures with us proudly.
Besides her mother of Adams, She is survived by her husband, John Swistak, whom she married on May 22, 1993; two sons, Christopher Wojcik and his wife Stephanie of New Windsor, NY and Scott Wojcik of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Aneesah, Madelyn and Jackson; two sisters, Joanne Kozik of Burlington, VT and Roberta Carpenter and her husband Ronald of Myrtle Beach, SC as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held on Friday, June 26th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, are Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
