Lawrence J. Werth Sr, 79

Lawrence J. Werth Sr, 79, of Parrish, Florida, passed away peacefully on his terms, at Lakewood Ranch Hospital, May 25, 2026. Born on June 25 , 1946, he was the son of the late John W. Werth and Elizabeth A. Haese Werth.

"Larry” or "Red", as his friends and family referred to him, was seen as charismatic by some and cantankerous
by others. Either way, you knew where you stood with him. He lived an honest life.

Larry graduated from Riverside High School, in Buffalo, NY 1965 and attended Berkshire Community College,
Massachusetts, Environmental Sciences 1970-1972. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1965-1969 having achieved rank of E-5 Engineman.

He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Later he served as a reserve member of the Navy Seabees.

After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Larry worked as a mechanic. His skills were often called upon to help family and friends over the years. He made many lifelong friendships throughout his military and working career.

Larry worked for 29 years at GL&V USA Inc. Nashua, NH (previously Beloit Corporation in Massachusetts) where he was employed as; Inventory and Receiving Coordinator, Expediter, Dispatcher and Production Planner Larry was known for his patriotism and dedication to serving his country. He was an active member of his local American Legion and VFW, where he was proud to take an active role in Flag Retirement Ceremonies.

Nothing made Larry happier than spending time fishing with his late wife, Judy, and sons, Larry and Scott. Whether it was saltwater fishing on the Gulf or the Atlantic in his boat, shore fishing off the Keys, trolling down the Hudson, or ice fishing on Lake Champlain.

From an early age, Larry had a love for nature which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, gardening and loved playing golf with his dad, stepson Greg, friends and neighbors.

Larry spent 17 happy years married to his second wife, Judith A. Werth before she passed away in 2020. They enjoyed time together traveling, cruising, fishing and visiting their children and grandchildren.

Larry was a dedicated fan of the Buffalo Bills and enjoyed watching the games with his sister Marge. They also looked forward to attending spring training baseball games for the Tampa Bay Rays every year. When Larry and Marge weren’t watching a game, they often spent time together experiencing local attractions, sharing lunch, family memories and best of all sunsets on the beach.
