ADAMS, Mass. —Mr. Edward M. Kulpa, of Adams, passed away at Berkshire Medical Center on July 10, 2026, at the age of 92.

Ed was born on April 2, 1934, in Adams, MA, to the late Martin A. and Julia (Zala) Kulpa. He attended St. Stanislaus Kostka School and graduated in 1951 from the former Adams High School. He was also a 1954 graduate of the General Electric Apprentice Toolmaker Program and a 1959 graduate of the GE Companywide Manufacturing Training Program.

Ed began working at General Electric Co. at the age of 17 and retired in 1994 after 43 years of service. His GE career included a number of managerial positions at plants in Erie PA, Schenectady NY, Fort Edward NY, and Lynn MA. Returning to Pittsfield, he worked in Distribution Transformer shop management before joining Environmental and Facilities Operations, where he began as Manager of Maintenance and Construction. He retired as Manager of Facilities in 1994.

Ed was a member of the GE Elfun Society and the GE Pensioners Club. Ed was a member of Company M of the Massachusetts National Guard, where he served as a 2nd Lieutenant after graduating from the Massachusetts Military Academy in 1955. He later served as an officer in the Army Reserve. Ed served on the Town of Adams Planning Board, was later appointed to the Finance Committee, and later served as chairman of the Town of Adams Bylaw Codification Committee. He was a communicant of St. John Paul II Parish at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for several years and a member of the Building and Maintenance Committee.

Ed enjoyed working on his home that he designed, built, and maintained. His favorite pastime was vegetable gardening, and he had an incredible knack for fixing almost anything.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, the former Lillian Soja, whom he married on June 2, 1956; two sons, David Kulpa (Jane) of Hollis, NH and Steven Kulpa (Paula) of Cheshire, CT; one daughter Cynthia Longevin (Kurt) of Adams, MA; seven grandchildren: Kari Baum (Andy) of Uxbridge, MA; Erika Burke (Billy) of Goffstown, NH; Jeffrey Kulpa of North Attleborough, MA; Michael Longevin (Mallori) of Essex Junction, VT; Daniel Longevin of Adams, MA; Dr. Emily Kulpa (Peter) of Houston, TX; and Margaret Kulpa of Jersey City, NJ; four great-grandchildren: Caden and Zoey Baum, and Parker and Rylan Burke. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gwozdz (Francis) and Lorraine Field (Brent), both of Cheshire, MA, and one brother-in-law, John Demastrie of Pittsfield, MA; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Julia Kurpiel and Frances Charbonneau, and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Demastrie.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, MA. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
