Shirley M. Michael, 81

ADAMS, Mass. —

Shirley Mildred (Dimitropolis) Michael, of Adams, died on Saturday, August 29th 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born in Adams, Massachusetts on May 21, 1945, a daughter of the late Charles and Felicia (Grandi) DImitropolis. She attended schools In Adams.

Shirley worked at Buxton School in Williamstown for 20 years, until she retired. She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II in Adams. She enjoyed playing volleyball at family picnics and going to the casino, spending time with her family.

Her husband, Robert D. Michael, whom she married on August 3, 1963, died on July 17, 2014.

She is survived by her children, Annette Michael of Florida, Cynthia Michael of North Carolina, Barbara Varno of Adams, and Robert J. Michael of Florida. Her siblings she preceded are Steven Dimitropolis of Adams, George Dimitropolis of Adams, Peter Dimitropolis of Adams, Anna Tomasello of North Adams, Rosemary Martin of Adams and Elizabeth Martin of East Longmeadow MA. She leaves 8 grandchildren, Corey, Tiffany, Robert, Casey, Josh, Alex and Anthony. She also leaves 13 great grandchildren, Olyvia, Robert, Charlotte, Luke, Colby, David, Kierra, Bella, Blake, Raelynn, Elana, John and Luca, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Anthony and Nicholas Dimitropolis.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at 11:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. A calling hour will be held in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, on Wednesday from 9:30AM until 10:30 AM, directly before the Liturgy. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. I’m so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. She was such a memorable person, and I feel fortunate to have known her. I’ll truly miss seeing her every week. Sending my deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
