Lawrence Z. Kordana, 69

WINDSOR, Mass. —
Mr. Lawrence Z. Kordana, 69, of Windsor, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
He was born in Adams Massachusetts on March 18, 1957, a son of the late Zigmond and Bernadette (Baran) Kordana. He graduated from Hoosac Valley High School with the class of 1975.
He was a skilled craftsman, with most of his work performed under the name KTR. He poured foundations for countless buildings throughout the Berkshires with his father’s business, KTR Foundations, and worked as a mechanic at KTR Polaris Snowmobiles. He eventually branched off into mastering stone masonry, carpentry, and timber framing; building fireplaces, chimneys, stone walls, and restoring timber frame barns with Richard Potter. He held his work to the highest of standards, a trait that resulted in his completed projects being regarded as works of art. The quality and attention to detail found in his work is cherished by many friends and family.
Throughout his life he was a member of multiple clubs, including Adams Sno Drifters, Hoosac Valley Motorcycle Club, and Adams Hound & Hunt Club. He always had a table reserved for him and his friends at Cheshire Rod and Gun Club game dinners.
Often referred to as “The Mountain Man”, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, mushrooming, cooking, canning, smoking meats in his smokehouse (including his locally famous kielbasa), and getting his morning coffee at Friendly Fred’s in Windsor.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Paula Meczywor, whom he married on October 18, 1980; his son Jake Kordana and his wife Jennie of Windsor; two sisters, Tammy Vittone (Richard Bak) of Lanesboro, Bonnie Kordana (Troy Shafer) of Adams; his uncle Francis Melillo and his wife Joanne of North Adams; his sister-in-law Linda Rodovick (Joe), brother-in-law Michael Meczywor, and by many nieces, nephews, and a great niece and nephew.
He was predeceased by his brother, Perry Kordana, and by his brother-in-law, Daniel Lennon.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 12:00 NOON in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St, Adams. Burial will follow in Windsor Hill Cemetery, Windsor. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
