 Margaret Morrison Boyer, 87

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Margaret Morrison Boyer, 87, died 13 September 2026 at Hospice of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. The daughter of Adair Morrison and Mary (Manson) Morrison, she was born in Montreal, Canada on March 21, 1939, and was raised in Ottawa, Ontario, before moving with her family to the United States in 1952. She graduated as the valedictorian of the 1955 class of Williamstown High School. She and Francis H. Boyer of Williamstown were married at her parents’ home in Williamstown on Sept. 24, 1956. For the next 19 years, she excelled at the “hardest job in the Navy”, that of a Navy wife. Over the course of her life, Marghi lived in three countries, more than 40 houses, and traveled to 49 States and nine countries.

During the 42 years from the birth of her oldest child to the high school graduation of her youngest, Marghi was active in many church, community, and school organizations. She graduated from North Texas State University summa cum laude in 1979 and passed the Certified Public Accountant exam the same year. She was employed over the next 25 years by various CPA firms in three states. She enjoyed reading, figure skating, sewing, quilting, and knitting. After years of sewing clothes for her nine children, many grandchildren, and their dolls, she completed over 400 quilts and wall hangings and later knitted over 100 pairs of socks. She consistently minimized her creative abilities while producing cherished items for her family.

Marghi is survived by one son and three daughters: Andrew Boyer of Reading, Massachusetts, Suzanne Homer of Centerville, Ohio, Jean Boyer of Durham, North Carolina, and Mary Boyer of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She is also survived by Andrew’s wife, Amy, and Mary’s husband, David Niehus, and one sister, Lisa Morrison, of Reading, Vermont. She leaves seven grandchildren: Rosealee, Benjamin, Emily, Zachary, Nicole, Vena, and Tammy; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Will, Tara, and Megan; and one great granddaughter, Nora.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67-plus years, Francis; her sons, Francis “Frank” and Richard Boyer; her daughters, Nancy Groom, Rebecca Hobbs, and Monica McLoota; her grandson Jacob McLoota; her brothers, Alan Morrison and George Morrison; and her sister, Nancy Izawa.

At Marghi’s request, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of her husband, Francis H. Boyer, to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (attention: Development Department, 875 N. Randolph St, Ste 225, Arlington, VA, 22203) or through the Funeral Home.
