Adele Wojtaszek

Adele A. "Del" Wojtaszek, 83, of 100 Church St., a longtime businesswoman, died Sunday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Savoy on Oct. 13, 1917, daughter of Walenty and Susanna Eliasz Bieniek, she attended Cheshire schools. She and her husband, Thaddeus "Butch" Wojtaszek, operated the former Butch's Market on Church Street from 1951 until retiring and closing the store in 1988. Mrs. Wojtaszek was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She was a gem and mineral collector, and had collected thousands of antique bottles. Her husband, whom she married Oct. 12, 1938, in St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams, died Oct. 23, 1977. She leaves a son, David F. Wojtaszek of Adams; a daughter, Penny Behrens of Cheshire; a brother, Fred Bieniek of Cheshire; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow at 10 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, celebrated by the Rev. Cormac Kinkead, CP. Burial will be in Cheshire Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church or to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association through the funeral home. She leaves five grandchildren, Kimberly Behrens-Mendes, Brian Behrens, Melissa Wojtaszek Vreeland, Jennifer Wojtaszek Blanquart and Susan Wojtaszek McGrory; a son-in-law, Edward Behrens; a daughter-in-law, Beth Wojtaszek, and her many compassionate care givers at Springside. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alfons Bieniek and Lawrence Bieniek, and two sisters, Anna Zarek and Mary Pomeroy
