Lloyd L. King

Lloyd Livingston King, 70, of 76 Bossidy Drive died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. He had resided in Pittsfield since 1968. Born in Lexington, Va., on Dec. 30, 1931, son of Howard and Elizabeth Sandidge King, he was educated in schools there. Mr. King was employed by Byron Weston Co. in Dalton as a millwright for 28 years, retiring in 1994. While in Lexington, he worked as a funeral director at the former Smith Funeral Home for many years. He was a past master of St. John's Masonic Lodge 10 and Beulah Chapter Order of Eastern Star. He served as a board member of many organizations, including Early Childhood Development Center, the police advisory, the Association for Basic Community Development and Education and the Christian Center, and was a trustee of Price Memorial AME Zion Church. A golfer, he was a supporter and instructor of Harts School of Golf in Williamstown. Mr. King was a blood donor for many years. He and his wife, the former Myrtle M. Bannister, were married Nov. 10, 1951, in Lexington. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Lonnie W. King, Tyson K. King and Lawrence King, all of Pittsfield, and Larry King of Syracuse, N.Y.; a daughter, Joyce E. Stores of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Lloyd L. King Jr. and Thurmond L. King. Services will be Saturday, July 27, at Randolph Street Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Lexington. Calling hours at W.B. Harrison Co. Mortuary, Lexington, will be Friday. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Randolph Street Methodist Church, Lexington, both in care of Dery Funeral Home.
