Edith M. Bertelli, 95, of 728 Creamery Road died yesterday at Laurel Lake Center in Lee. Born in Venetia, Italy, on Jan. 12, 1907, daughter of Eugene and Teresa Mettifogo Pellizzaro, she came to the United States as a child and resided in Lee, where she attended schools. She had also resided in Pittsfield until moving to Hinsdale in 1997 to live with her daughter, Pamela Frieri. At a young age, she moved to New York City, where she worked as a nanny. She returned to the Berkshires in 1925 and was a nanny for various families until 1989, when she retired at the age of 82. She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church in Pittsfield. Her husband, Hugo P. Bertelli, whom she married Dec. 27, 1926, died June 16, 1990. Besides her daughter, she leaves two sons, David H. Bertelli of Pittsfield and Edmund P. Bertelli Sr. of Lenox, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow morning at 8:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be today, July 29, from 4 to 7.
