Edward J. Bury

Edward J. Bury, 82, of 42 Summer St. died yesterday afternoon at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. Born in Adams on April 18, 1920, son of Frank and Catherine Kuza Bury, he attended local schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 20th Air Corps B-29 bomber group on Tinian in the Pacific. He was employed as a winder in the concrete reactor department at GE in Pittsfield for 38 years and was a group leader for the last three years of his career. He retired in 1983. A communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church, Mr. Bury was a member and past vice president of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion and the Polish National Alliance. He leaves his wife, the former Theodosia Kurdziel, whom he married May 28, 1949; two sons, Donald Bury and Richard Bury, both of Adams; a brother, Chester Bury of Adams; a sister, Gladys Bozek of Adams; and five grandchildren. Another son, Edward Bury, died in 1956. The funeral will be Monday at 9:15 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance Service.
