Marie Lafayette

Marie "Marion" Lafayette, 84, of Burlington, Vt., died Saturday at the Starr Farm Nursing Care Center in Burlington. She had suffered a stroke in January 2001 from which she never fully recovered. She was the mother of Peter Lafayette of Pittsfield. Born in Burlington on Dec. 21, 1917, daughter of Herminegilde and Eveline Lapointe Blanchard, she attended schools in Burlington. She was married in Burlington on June 30, 1941, to Leonard W. Lafayette, who predeceased her in November 1990. Besides her son of Pittsfield, she leaves four more sons, Mark, Paul, Tony and Martin Lafayette, all of Burlington; four daughters, Diane and Monica Lafayette and Maria Jones, all of Burlington, and Carol Roach of Miami, Fla.; a brother, Rene Blanchard of Burlington; two sisters, Sister Marie Rita Blanchard and Theresa Blanchard, both of Burlington; 21 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
