Helen Rita Dean

Helen Rita Dean, 77, of 108 Meadow St. died yesterday morning at home. Born in North Adams on Sept. 5, 1924, daughter of Felix and Julia Cavey Duquette, she attended North Adams schools, including the former Notre Dame School. Mrs. Dean was employed by the vormer Waverly Fabrics Co. in Adams, retiring in 1986. She also had been employed by the former Hoosac Cotton Mills, the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. and as a seamstress by the former Roberts Co. store. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church, a member of its Rosary Society and an active volunteer with its 125th anniversary celebration. She was a member of the Briggsville Retirement Club in Clarksburg and enjoyed sewing, bingo, crocheting and cooking. She and her husband, Henry D. Dean, would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary Sept. 16. They were married in Notre Dame Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Craig Dean of North Adams and Ralph Dupree of Poplarville, Miss.; three sisters, Flora Dupree, Dorothy Mancini and Gloria Ziaja, all of North Adams, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by three grandchildren, Henry Donald Dupree, Gary Dupree and Debbie Dupree. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Friday, from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
