John C. O'Brien

John C. "Jack" O'Brien, 32, of 3332 Eliot St., Denver, died Thursday at St. Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver after being stricken at home with an apparent heart attack. Formerly of 20 Longview Road, he had moved to Colorado in 1992. Born in Pittsfield on March 30, 1970, son of Mary Furey O'Brien and John J. "Jack O'Brien, he was educated in Lanesboro and was a 1988 graduate of Mount Greylock Regional High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College. He was also a student of the Massachusetts Moldmaking Apprenticeship Program. While in Pittsfield, he was employed at Hi-Tech Mold & Tool. For the past 10 years, he worked in the Denver area and, at the time of his death, was a sales manager for Intertech Plastics in Aurora, Colo. He was also the co-owner and vice president of Jaren Precision Micro Welding Inc. in Denver. Mr. O'Brien was a member of Vineyard Church of Fort Collins, Colo. He enjoyed mentoring inner city youth in the Denver area. He also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking and motorcycling. Besides his mother of Lanesboro and his father of DeQueen, Ark., he leaves a brother, Darren M. O'Brien of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Kelly A. Stevens of Fort Collins; his paternal grandfather, John C. "Jack" O'Brien, and paternal step-grandmother, Marion O'Brien, both of Clinton, N.J.; his stepmother, Laura S. O'Brien of DeQueen, and his companion, Rebecca Richardson of Denver. He also leaves his former wife, Elizabeth Grandos of Parker, Colo. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 at St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield, celebrated the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. The O'Brien family will greet friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Pittsfield in care of the funeral home.
