Margaret Shaffer

Margaret Elizabeth Shaffer, 97, of Brewster, formerly of Otis, died Tuesday at Epoch Senior Care in Brewster. Born in New York City on Feb. 23, 1905, daughter of George and Anna Hall Raino, she grew up in Nova Scotia, where she attended schools. Mrs. Shaffer graduated from Jamaica Hospital Nursing School in New York City and worked as a registered nurse at Jamaica Hospital for many years. She lived in New York City until moving to Otis, where she lived until six years ago when she moved to Cape Cod, living in Chatham and Brewster. While a resident of Otis, she worked as a nurse at a nursing home, retiring at the age of 70. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Shaffer, whom she married in 1928. She leaves a son, Charles Shaffer of East Wakefield, N.H.; three grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren.
