Jennette M.Snow Race, 96, of 783 South Main St. Great Barrington died Saturday at home. She was born in Westfield daughter of the late Harvey W.and Mary Allen Snow on May 8,1906. She was educated in the Tyringham and Stockbridge schools and the former Searles High School. She had previously worked for the Elmcourt Inn in North Egremont for Bertha Brusie. She enjoyed crocheting and doing embroidery. She also enjoyed going for car rides and observing wildlife. Her husband of 62 years Clarence S.Race whom she married April 1, 1964 in Hillsdale, N.Y. died April 6,1986. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Reginald and Doris Race of Great Barrington, her daughter-in-law Virginia Race of Egremont, her 2 sisters Constance Stalker and Gloria Woodard of Great Barrington, 5 grandchildren Dudley ,Michael, Thomas, Brian and Cynthia Race,4 great grandchildren Valerie, Tyler, Scott, and Katharine Race several cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by another son Clarence Dudley Race who died December 19,1989 and 3 brothers George, Harvey, and Richard Snow, and 1 sister Helen J. Martin. Funeral services for Jennette M. Snow Race who died Saturday August 17,2002 will be Tuesday August 20,2002 at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME at noon with the Rev David Rogers officiating, burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1O:OOAM until time of the service.
