Mrs. Nell Pryor Kinzie

Mrs. Nell Pryor Kinzie, 93, formerly of Hillsdale Road in South Egremont died on Friday evening. August 16,2002 at Town and Country Nursing Center in Lowell, MA where she had been a resident for the past year. She was born May 21,1909, in Smithville, GA, and was the daughter of Robert Spencer Pryor and Elizabeth Gatewood Pryor. She graduated from Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, in 1930 and married George Reinhold Kinzie January 2, 1932. A resident of Egremont since 1954, she attended the First Congregational Church of South Egremont and was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society there. She had a lifelong interest in gardening and was the first president of the Egremont Garden Club. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. She also led Bluebird and Cub Scout groups when her children were young. She is survived by her sister, Julia Pryor Macklen of Raleigh, NC, her brother John Gatewood Pryor of Atlanta, GA; three children, Elizabeth Constance of Washington, DC, George Reinhold Jr. of Acton, MA and Norman Francis of Methuen, MA; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home at one pm, Monday afternoon with a visiting hour beginning at noon. Burial will be private.
