James Robert "Jimo" Molloy

James Robert "Jimo" Molloy, 81, of 127 Franklin St., Franklin Court Apt. 11A, died Monday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Oct. 14, 1920, son of James J. and Julia E. Coons Molloy, he graduated from Drury High School in 1938. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and served as a corporal with the 718th Army Air Force Base Unit for 36 months. Before the war, Mr. Molloy was employed by the North Adams Post Office as a special delivery carrier. After his military service, he was employed by the North Adams Transcript as a compositor and printer for many years, retiring in the early 1980s. He was most recently employed as an agent for the Michael Deep Insurance and Real Estate Co. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where he was a former lector. He was also a member of the North Adams Historical Society. He and his wife, Mary, were winter residents of Dunedin, Fla., for many years. He leaves his wife of 56 years, the former Mary Dooling, whom he married April 22, 1946, in St. Francis Church, North Adams; two daughters, Mary Molloy LaBombard of Adams and Anne Molly Gamache of North Adams; four sons, James W. Molloy of Turnersville, N.J., Thomas F. Molloy of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and William W. Molloy and Patrick Molloy, both of North Adams; a brother, William M. Molloy of Apopka, Fla., and 12 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for James Robert "Jimo" Molloy will take place Friday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. Survivors include two daughter-in-laws, Tina Molloy and Anne Molloy; two sons-in-laws, John LaBombard and Nelson Gamache; 12 grandchildren, Patricia Pinder and her husband, Gregory, Jason and Danny Gamache, Sean and Matthew LaBombard, Michael, Pamela, Timothy, Curran, Ryan, Rebecca and Shannon Molloy. She was predeceased by four sisters, Julia Tworig, Alice Anderson, Barbara Rinaldi and Carol Molloy. Dear to Mr. Molloy's heart was his wife, children and grandchildren.
