Bertha Frances Drumm

Bertha Frances Drumm, 101, longtime resident of Church Street, died Tuesday at Fairview Commons Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1993. Born in Alford on Jan. 4, 1901, daughter of John H. and Jennie Buckbee Wilcox, she was a 1918 graduate of the former Searles High School. She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years. She also worked in the Southern Berkshire District Court, Rising Paper Co. and the Great Barrington Savings Bank. Mrs. Drumm was the oldest member of First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, where she was a member of its Ladies Guild and the Loving Grandmothers' Sewing Group. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Cincinnatus Chapter, the Thursday Morning Club and DAR, First Resistance Chapter. Her husband, Floyd D. Drumm, whom she married Oct. 29, 1924, died Dec. 28, 1969. She leaves a son, Everett F. Drumm of Alford, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Bertha F. Wilcox Drumm died Aug. 27, 2002. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Marjory; two grandsons, Christopher W. and Timothy E. Drumm; three great-grandchildren, Cara, Graeme and Georgia; and a step-great-grandson, Ian. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 7 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Stockbridge Cemetery.
