William Edward Brownson

William Edward Brownson, 65, of Roger Road died yesterday morning at Fairview Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Great Barrington on Sept. 9, 1936, son of Charles H. and Mary B. Day Brownson, he attended local schools, including the former Searles High School. He served in the Air Force from 1956 until 1960. Mr. Brownson was employed as the parts manager at Raynor's Auto Supply. He was a member of the Cincinnatus Lodge AF & AM and coached the Wheeler & Taylor Little League team from 1973 until 1988. The team won six Little League championships and went undefeated in 1986, when it won the Berkshire County championship. He enjoyed bowling, horse racing and watching sports programs on television. He also enjoyed visiting Lake George, N.Y., in the summer and sitting on his front porch. He and his wife, the former Ruth "Deedee" Roger, were married Feb. 12, 1966, at First Congregational Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Roger Brownson of Great Barrington and Robert Brownson of South Egremont; a daughter, Katina Sebben of Canaan, Conn.; five grandchildren, and three stepgrandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- William Edward Brownson died Aug. 29, 2002. He also leaves five grandchildren, Sabrina, Tyler, Myles, Connor and Dylan, and three stepgrandchildren, Joey, Andrew and Brandon Decker. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 11 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 2, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
