Jadene Marie Alfonso

Jadene Marie Alfonso, 36, of 78 Brodie Mountain Road died Wednesday evening at home following a two-year battle with breast cancer. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 22, 1965, daughter of John C. Dawley and Marjorie Brower Dawley, both of Pittsfield, she attended schools in Lanesboro and Pittsfield. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Pittsfield for 10 years, retiring in 2001 because of ill health. Mrs. Alfonso was a member of Christian Assembly Church. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Skyline Country Club for three years, making a hole-in-one on the third hole two years ago. She bowled with the Three Women Major League team for 10 years. She enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, her pond and growing flowers, especially roses. During her illness, she wrote and recorded a song, "Match Made in Heaven," dedicated to her husband, Carl Alfonso. She and her husband were married March 13, 1990. Besides her father, her mother and her husband, she leaves two sisters, Marcia Paris of Lanesboro and Diana Strong of Boca Raton, Fla.; her paternal grandfather, E. "Bud" Dawley of Pittsfield, and her maternal grandmother, former Selectwoman L. Ruth Brower of Lanesboro. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Jadene Marie Alfonso, who died Wednesday, Sept. 11, following a two-year battle with breast cancer, was the beloved granddaughter of L. Ruth Brower and Bud Dawley, and the beloved aunt of C.J. McBreairty, DiMaggio Paris, Dominic Paris and Broc Strong. The funeral will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 at Christian Assembly Church by the Rev. Dean M. Nowotny, pastor. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Lanesboro. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 8 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund or to UNICO in care of the funeral home.
