Mildred Marian Barnes Rourk, 93 of 1065 Main Street, Housatonic, died Tuesday September, 17 2002 at home. She was born in Great Barrington, daughter of the late Lee and Clara Thurston Barnes on May 6, 1909. She attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1927. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the John B Hull Co. retiring in 1979. Her husband William D Rourk whom she married on March 25, 1929 died in April 1993. She was a member and past superintendent of the Childrenâ€™s Sunday School at the Congregational Church in Housatonic, She enjoyed knitting , crossword puzzles and her grandchildren. She leaves her daughter Ruth Rourk Martin Kulas of Housatonic and one brother Lee Barnes of Chicopee, MA, two grandchildren David and Bruce Martin, 6 grandchildren and one great granddaughter Jade. She was predeceased by another grandson Lee Martin who died August 28,200l. Funeral services for Mildred Marian Barnes Rourk who died Tuesday September 17, 2002 will be Friday September 20,2002 at 12 noon at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME with the Pastor Jerry Vargo of the Calvary Christian Church, Great Barrington officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Housatonic. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mildred may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the youth group at the Calvary Christian Church c/o BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington, MA 01230.
