Clifford A. Roberts

Clifford A. Roberts, 53, of 11 Hatchery Road died Monday at Fairview Hospital of a heart attack. Born in Lakewood, N.J., on June 3, 1949, son of Samuel J. Roberts Sr. and the late Evelyn Folke Roberts, he was a 1967 graduate of Whitcomb High School in Bethel, Vt., and a 1971 graduate of Kansas University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts. During his junior year, he studied at the University of Copenhagen. He moved to New Marlboro six years ago. A fiber artist and weaver, Mr. Roberts received national and international acclaim for his textile designs and wall art. While in Lakewood, he was a member of First Baptist Church. Besides his father, of Woodstock, Conn., he leaves a brother, Samuel J. Roberts Jr. of New Marlboro; two sisters, Joann Bierly of Tarpon Springs, Fla., and Elaine Roberts of New Marlboro. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Celebration of Life Service for Clifford A. Roberts, who died Sept. 16, 2002, will be Friday, Sept. 20, from 10 to 11 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington.
