Joseph Exzear St. Cyr

Joseph Exzear St. Cyr, 83, of 85 Eagle St., Apt. 411, died Friday evening at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Jan. 3, 1919, son of Joseph E. and Exilia Bergeron St. Cyr, he attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School. Mr. St. Cyr was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was employed for 14 years by the maintenance department at North Adams Regional Hospital until his retirement in 1984. Prior to that, he was employed by the buildings and grounds department at Williams College in Williamstown and by the former Hoosac Cotton Mill. Mr. St. Cyr was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. He was a member of the North Adams Fire Department many years ago. His wife, the former Doris M. McConnell, whom he married May 31, 1947, died March 31, 2001. He leaves three daughters, Nancy Pecor of North Adams, Carole Pyra of Cheshire and Donna St. Cyr of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Edna Cote and Ella Nary, both of Williamstown, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph E. St. Cyr will be Tuesday at 8:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to North Adams Regional Hospital through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. Mr. St. Cyr also leaves three grandchildren, Anne Pecor, a student at Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y.; Beth Pyra of Cheshire and Jacob Pyra of Hinsdale, and many nieces and nephews. Seven brothers and sisters predeceased him.
