Gerald Edward Varuzzo

Gerald Edward Varuzzo, 81, of 1386 South Church St. died yesterday at Williamstown Commons, where he had resided since March. Born in North Adams on Nov. 4, 1920, son of Joseph and Frances Myers Varuzzo, he was a 1940 graduate of Drury High School. He was employed as a maintenance foreman by the former Arnold Print Works and its successor, Adams Print Works. He also had worked at the former Jack & Harry's Store, the former Shapiro Motors' body shop and the Boston & Maine Railroad. Mr. Varuzzo was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Cecile Lisee, celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Aug. 4. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Gerald Joseph Varuzzo and Michael John Varuzzo, both of North Adams, and Dennis Edward Varuzzo of Turners Falls, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Gerald Varuzzo will be Monday, Oct. 7, at 10 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Oct. 6, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for Hospice of Northern Berkshire, Alzheimer's Association or Cancer Society through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St. Survivors include six grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley and Andrew Varuzzo of North Adams; Anthony "Tony" Varuzzo and Gina Varuzzo of Turners Falls, and Bobby Jo Gallagher of Williamstown. He was predeceased by two sisters, Viola Dion and Ethel Mastroianni.
