Harriet Vincent

Harriet Vincent, 74, of 909 South Main St. died early yesterday morning at home. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 24, 1928, daughter of Henry and Eleanor Lomas Lawrence, she attended schools in Lee, Hinsdale, Dalton and Great Barrington. A certified food service supervisor, she worked at Willowood Nursing Home upon its opening in 1976, at Fairview Hospital and, most recently, for the Berkshire Hills Regional School District. She baked bread for the former Seth and Jed's Country Store in the late 1960s and again from 1982 until its closing in 1997. For many years, she cooked at the Madden Heart Camp during the summers. A genealogist, she constructed and maintained the many records of her family history for her children and grandchildren. Her husband, Gordon F. Vincent, died June 14, 1994. She leaves four sons, Gordon F. Vincent Jr. of Adams, Donald W. Vincent and Stephen R. Vincent, both of Sheffield, and Richard D. Vincent of Housatonic; four daughters, Janice Fisher and Joyce Cousino, both of Great Barrington, Dianna Hankey of Sheffield and Eleanor Vincent of San Diego; a brother, Henry Lawrence Jr. of Housatonic and Carrabelle, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Harriet Vincent died Oct. 22, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 25, at 1 at the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by the Rev. Charles Young. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
