Meyer H. Kasindorf, 79, of West Stockbridge died Friday afternoon at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington after being stricken earlier at home. He was a town assessor for many years. Born July 19, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of William and Lillian Rabinowitz Kasindorf, he graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School. He attended various colleges before joining the Army Air Forces during World War II. He moved to West Stockbridge in 1988. Mr. Kasindorf was a self-employed engineer and manufacturer of electric motors. He was a member of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, where he served as president during its recent expansion. He and his wife, the former Shirley Seidler, would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary Feb. 5. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Judy Lichtenfeld of South Egremont; a son, Joshua Kasindorf of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Hy Kasindorf of Bethesda, Md.; a sister, Harriet Fabricant of the state of Florida; three grandchildren, and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Meyer H. Kasindorf died Oct. 25, 2002. He also leaves his son-in-law, Dr. Peter Lichtenfeld; three grandchildren, Daniel Lichtenfeld and his wife, Paulina Essunger, Deborah Lichtenfeld and her husband, Jeff Schulman, and Rebecca Lichtenfeld; and his great-grandson, Ari. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Greenberg. The funeral will be conducted Monday, Oct. 28, at noon at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire on State Road, Great Barrington, with Rabbi Deborah Zecher. Burial will follow in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, Great Barrington. The family will sit Shiva at home in West Stockbridge on Monday, 6 to 8; Tuesday, 2 to 5 and 6 to 8; Wednesday, 2 to 5 and 6 to 8.
