Joseph E. Cane, 82
SHEFFIELD, Mass. â€' Joseph E. Cane, 82, of West Road died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at home.
Born in Salisbury, Conn., on April 21, 1920, son of Albert and Louise Connolly Cane, he attended schools there until moving to Sheffield, where he attended Sheffield Center School.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the Seabees (Construction Battalions).
Mr. Cane was a self-employed contractor in the Southern Berkshire area. He enjoyed gardening.
He and his wife, the former Mary Geer, were married April 17, 1963, in Canaan, Conn.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Thomas Cane of Canaan; three stepsons, Michael Cassidy of Mount Shasta, Calif., Peter Cassidy of Sheffield and Shawn Cassidy of Ashley Falls; a daughter, Teresa Kerstetter of Sandia Park, N.M.; a sister, Joan Gulotta of Sheffield; a brother, Charles G. Cane of Great Barrington, and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ames.
