Mario J. "Juggy" Santolin Jr.

Mario J. "Juggy" Santolin Jr., 70, of 15 Lana Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in West Stockbridge on Feb. 1, 1932, son of Mario J. Santolin Sr. and Edith Biasin Santolin, he moved to Lee as a child and was educated in Lee schools, including Lee High School. He served from December 1949 to March 1953 as a paratrooper with the Army's 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. He was employed by the Pittsfield Pipers from 1969 until retiring in 1994. He had also worked at the Clark Aiken Co. in Lee, for Victor Pellizzaro in the mason and general contracting business and for George VanZandt Sheet Metal business in Lenox Dale. Mr. Santolin was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a member of Local 63 of the Sheet Metal Union and a member of the Greenock Country Club in Lee, where he also worked as a ranger. He leaves his wife, the former Lucy R. Maffuccio, whom he married Oct. 9, 1954; three daughters, Linda S. Way of Wilbraham, Karen A. Keenan and Donna J. Colbert, both of Lee; a sister, Lucy S. Boldyga of Lee; and five grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Santolin leaves his beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Barrett, Evan, Alissa and Allie. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony G. "Tony" Santolin, who died in 1968. The funeral will be Friday at 9:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the Kelly Funeral Home.
