Robert Bartow

Robert Bartow, 75, of Monterey Road died Saturday night at home. Born in Simsbury, Conn., on Sept. 26, 1927, son of Walter and Margie Carter Bartow, he attended schools in Connecticut. He was given his honorary high school diploma by Simsbury High School two years ago. He joined the Navy at age 17 and fought during World War II. After returning home from the war, he lived in Tolland. Mr. Bartow was a self-employed contractor, retiring in 1978. He was past master of the Otis Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Federal Masonic Lodge in Chester. He collected old school bells and enjoyed watching auto racing. In the 1960s, he raced at Lebanon Valley Speedway, driving "8 Ball." He and his wife, the former Lois Lewis, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary Sept. 24. They were married at Otis Congregational Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna Beaulieu Seymour of Westfield; a son, Kenneth Bartow of Ashley Falls; a stepsister, Nancy Loft of Worchester, N.Y.; a stepbrother, Jan Bartow of Cooperstown, N.Y.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Robert "Bob" Bartow, who died Nov. 23, 2002, will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Alan Macy. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He leaves his son-in-law, Daniel Seymour; daughter-in-law, Diane Bartow; four grandchildren, Daniel Hawley, Nicholas Bartow, and Darbie and Autumn Beaulieu; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Brianna Hawley; stepsister, Nancy Loft of Worchester, N.Y., and stepbrother, Jan Bartow of Cooperstown, N.Y. He was predeceased by his brother Carl W. Bartow of New Marlboro.
