William A. Lalliberte

William A. Lalliberte, 54, of 1185 Shelburne Road, South Burlington, Vt., died Wednesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. He was admitted shortly after being stricken with a heart attack at American Legion Post 125, where he was assisting with its annual Christmas dinner. Born in Melrose on March 9, 1948, son of Col. Lawrence A. Lalliberte and Edna Bunting Lalliberte, he attended schools in the United States and overseas and graduated in 1966 from Seoul American High School in South Korea and cum laude in 1970 from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. He also had professional training certificates and postgraduate credits. He spent most of his life in Vermont, where his family maintained a residence. Mr. Lalliberte was for many years president of Lalliberte Enterprises, a consulting firm, and a business consultant and computer trainer. He also had been employed as a technical writer and programmer for several years for Business Information Technology. He had held many jobs, including in Alaska as a firefighter, bartender, roofer, painter and contractor, and for more than 10 years, in human services in Vermont. He also was a teacher in the early 1970s, and more recently, taught computer classes for adults. He enjoyed gardening and was a certified master gardener with the U.S. Department of Agriculture/University of Vermont Extension System. He was a member of the South Burlington Natural Resources Committee and enjoyed fly fishing, cooking, reading, cross-country skiing, canoeing and wildlife habitat improvement. He leaves his stepmother, Ruth C. Tangley Lalliberte of North Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- William A. Lalliberte, 54, died Dec. 25, 2002. He also leaves a niece and two nephews. A brother, Lawrence A. "Rocket" Lalliberte Jr. predeceased him. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, Dec. 30, at 11 in First Congregational Church by the Rev. Jill D. Graham, pastor. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations in his memory be made to the American Legion Christmas Dinner or to a charity of the donor's choice, through AUGÉ-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
