Michael Ernest Murach

Michael Ernest Murach, 37, of 210 Eagle St. died yesterday at home following a brief illness. Born in North Adams on Jan. 18, 1965, son of Anthony P. Murach Sr. and Doris E. Volff Murach of North Adams, he graduated from Drury High School in 1983. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and went to Fort Benning, Ga., for training. He served for six years as a specialist with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry until his honorable discharge on March 29, 1990. Mr. Murach was employed for more than 18 years in the buildings and grounds department of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, formerly North Adams State College. He was a member of the Berkshire Outdoor Sportsmen's Club and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and wrestling. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed attending the races and demolition derbies at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y. Besides his parents, he leaves a daughter, Michaela Murach of North Adams; five sisters, Marion Murach of North Carolina, Margaret Apkin of Pittsfield, Bonnie Meyers of Williamstown and Judith Armata and Linda Boucher, both of North Adams; three brothers, Anthony P. Murach Jr. and Johnny J. Murach, both of North Adams, and David A. Murach of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Michael Ernest Murach will be tomorrow, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, any donations in his memory are suggested for his daughter's education fund through the funeral home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
