Gertrude M. Schmidt, 83
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Gertrude Marion Schmidt, 83, of 25 Adams St. died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at home.
Born in Monroe on Feb. 23, 1919, daughter of Arthur A. and Margarite Day Trahan, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended Drury High School.
Mrs. Schmidt was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Her husband, Arthur A. Schmidt, whom she married May 23, 1936, died Dec. 17, 1979.
She leaves a son, Arthur W. Schmidt of North Adams; a daughter, Phyllis M. Schmidt of Williamstown; three grandchildren, Michael Schmidt and Christine Lescarbeau, both of Clarksburg, and Julie Schmidt of North Adams; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her brother, Alfred Trahan, is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Gertrude Trahan Schmidt, 83, will be conducted tomorrow, Dec. 31, at 10 at AUGÉ-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. James Bruce Duncan, Episcopal priest. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
